A while back I bought a cheap fitness watch from eBay but it was rubbish. So after reading up on a few of them and there is people on here got them I've bought myself a Garmin forerunner 35 gps watch which will come this is week and seems to be quite accurate . I'm sure there will be loads more to pick from. Good luck 😊

I have an Apple Watch which I love and use for everything. It’s pretty accurate and does the job for me.

DC Rainmaker dcrainmaker.com is the site for reviews of running watches.

Realistically you have 3 types of running watch - a smartwatch that happens to do fitness tracking (Apple, Samsung really are the only brands to consider), activity trackers that happen to have some running capability (FitBit are by far the market leaders, but there are plenty of much smaller Chinese companies competing on price (but will there be ongoing support??)).

Lastly, you've got specialist running watches that also happen to have some smartwatch features like notifications, and 24 hour fitness tracking - steps, sleep, heartrate etc). Garmin are the market leaders for running watches (but Polar, Suunto, tomtom (they won't bring out any new running watches) are other choices).

Without question, you'll get a bunch of recommendations for Garmin ForeRunner 35 and ForeRunner 235. These are exceptional running watches and consequently are very, very popular.

I've had a FR235 for 3 years, I've worn it 24 hours a day 365 days a year and (apart from needing a new strap a couple of times) has been very easy to live with.

The Garmin F35 and Polar M430 had a very good discount in the Amazon Prime sale
