New shoes disappointing...

For the past 8 weeks I have run in my £35 trail shoes, a bit too small, probably not ideal. I have not had one twinge, no aches or pains and I praised my good fortune. Yesterday I got my gait analysed and invested in a pair of £125 Saucony running shoes that were recommended to me. Today I did W9R1 and my legs ACHED from about 10 minutes in, and I felt something in my groin go in the last few minutes. It felt really uncomfortable and took EVERYTHING I had in me to finish it. Please tell me I haven’t just wasted £125 on fancy shoes....😩

No don’t worry. If you don’t feel comfortable after the next run take them back to the shop and explain. When I had my gait analysis done 2 years ago I tried on about 5 different pairs of shoes. I went for Brooks GTS17’s in the end, and now I’m on the newer model, GTS19’s. They were the most comfortable I felt. Next year you guessed it, I’ll be wearing GTS20’s. And because I was so well looked after I’ll be going back to the same place.

I’m sure the shop will replace them for you. It’s in their interest for repeat business. Bring the receipt.

I think wearing them in a tad first would have been helpful...to be fair we have to get used to things... but if in doubt, they may take them back?

Thanks for the replies. I hadn’t considered being able to take them back since I’ve worn them outside. Should probably have done the run on a treadmill....

Well if the shoes have a different level of arch support than you are used to, then you will have a different ("corrected") gait. You might feel this as your under-used muscles start to work. But the shop can tell you more, if you go back to them for a chat.
