I ran three times last week. Week 9 run 1 I managed beautifully. Run 2 took place on an incredibly muggy morning, was very muddy, and I had to stop after 26 minutes because it felt like I was breathing soup - being an honest soul I didn't count that run. Run 2 take 2 was on a Friday, and glorious, I managed beautifully again, it was a lovely warm evening but the air was much fresher, and I really felt amazing when I'd finished...

But as I was walking a bit later on I noticed my ankle was twinging, and by the next morning it had swollen up! I don't think it was the run, I think I turned my ankle wearing flip flops just afterward. I've been hobbling around ever since and I'm so frustrated that I won't get to run my graduation run for another week or so! I shouldn't have been honest and just counted the 26 minutes... but then I would have known I'd cheated and it wouldn't have been so satisfying I suppose.

Any advice on how long to rest a swollen ankle?

Oh gosh. What a blooming shame...and painful!

There are so many of us on the IC right now...!

Follow the NHS advice...and take care..that run will wait...and the badge has your name on it:)

Oh no, you poor thing. I think it depends on quite how badly it is hurt but I would be optimistic about being back in action within two weeks. But don't try to run until it feels completely better!
