Nearly wet myself today...TMI alert πŸ˜‚

Felt a bit dehydrated this morning after a couple of drinks last night so stupidly drank 3 glasses of water before my run so I'd be fully hydrated! Seemed like a good idea at the time πŸ˜‚. Had decided to change my route to increase my distance and luckily made it most of the way round before I was having to concentrate more on my bladder than my running...suddenly after 33 minutes and about 15 seconds from the car, I knew if I ran another step I was literally gonna wet myself, and not just a little bit 😳 I made it home safely but I swear to god if I hadn't already done my 30 minutes I would have kept going regardless πŸ˜‚

Not a good idea to drink too much water before a run, by all means drink a little so that you don't dehydrate, next time you will not drink so much water before you run. πŸƒ 😊

You are correct, don't know what i was thinking...won't be drinking like that again before a run! πŸ‘

Oh goodness, that is one of my fears. I drink a lot of water and I'm always worried that I'm going to need to "go".

I tend to run first thing in the morning after walking the dogs so I've had a chance to evacuate everything before I start lol

Sensible move!...I was so thirsty and staying home for half an hour so though I'd be able to do the same but my body had other ideas and kindly decided to retain it for a while! I won't be making that mistake again 😏

Sadly, downing glasses of water doesn’t help hydration much... it tends to pass through pretty quickly, as you’ve discovered! Great run... and just the right length by the sounds of it. Some marathon runners just let it go, but I think I’ll me more of a comfort break runner!

The rule is to drink plenty of water the day BEFORE you run, rather than a lot just before, by all means take a little water before you run, but not much.

Lol, not sure I could just let it go either, especially not with a marathon audience! 😏 Yes, I was hoping it'd pass through in the half hour before my run but my body decided to save it for a while longer. Rookie mistake πŸ˜†

I had a similar incident last week and had to stop mid-trail run and relieve myself....not a bathroom in sight running in isolation at the lake so popped a squat and did what we would do as kids. Made sure nobody could see me from the lake side and no horseback riders visible in the hills but on my run back to my starting point, did meet another trail runner. I'm so glad I went when I did. That would've been mighty awkward πŸ˜³πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

That was brave, glad you got away without being seen! πŸ˜† I did a similar thing on a walk in the woods once, but I had my sis with me so she was able to keep watch...needs must eh 😏

Oops!

I carry a water and electrolyte solution when it’s hot and just sip as I go. That way I seem to hydrate without drinking gallons

Oops indeed, I usually drink plenty of water in general but only a bit before and during a run...that's what I get for not following my own rules 😬

If i drink plenty of water, i might as well move everything into the loo - it goes through me and keeps going through me

That’s commitment - still, if it’s good enough for Paula Radcliffe 🀣
