Fashion or ‘it’s a must’?

Hi all,

I’ve been reading a lot on the topic below, opinions are split, hence no clear answer yet. As a male, should I wear shorts on top of leggings? I don’t really care about when running at 6am through fields or dormant village, but I shall soon go for a PR, and I would like to avoid being The Freak.

Thanks

Personally I would... some don’t... it’s up to you I guess. I bought running tights last autumn and they’re still unworn, I ran the whole of the winter in shorts.

It's mid-summer and possibly 30+ degrees in parts of UK. You will be the freak at parkrun if you are wearing running tights. Once it has cooled down and you need to wear tights (but note UnfitNoMore 's comment) then it's up to you. Personally I wear without shorts on top, but some men at parkrun will wear shorts. Wearing shorts will probably put you in the minority.

At this time of year and in warmer weather, I'm strictly shorts. If it's a bit chillier, I'll forego my ankle socks in favour of my knee length rugby socks.

I will wear tights in the depths of winter, and I always wear shorts over them, mainly because there are things that no one really needs to even almost see, and also, well, pockets...

I'm definitely in the shorts over them camp.

Ha!! I'd do what ever you feel comfortable with. There is a little gaggle of run/swimmers near me. They run in wet suits in the winter and swimming costumes/ trunks in the summer. Then jump in the lake in trainers.

Wear whatever YOU feel most comfortable in, I wouldnt worry what others think X

Think most things are acceptable at PR as long as you don’t scare the horses or children!

You could pass by a parkrun this Saturday and check out what everyone is wearing if you're worried. Or some of them have photos online of their parkrun

Thank you all. I can’t be the only one knowing that tights could keep my legs cool in hot weather. And this is what mine do. So they will win over shorts no matter the weather. I’ve been to see the local park run, and I must’ve gotten there at the wrong time. Probably 80% of participants were women, and amongst the men I’ve seen one doing the thing dressed as a postman, another one dressed as Foghorn Leghorn, so I couldn’t get my answers on the occasion. But I’ve made up my mind, shorts on. Thanks a lot.
