Yesterday I had a man in a car beep at me as he passed. I definitely didn't know him. Im trying really hard to not let it put me off but it did make me feel uncomfortable. Why do some people feel the need to do this?!

Any other women experience this?
Grrr. So annoying. Had my run almost spoiled on Wednesday by man shouting out of his van at me, know the problem is with him but didn’t stop me holding my breath slightly as another white van approached today (thankfully normal non-dickheads in this one). I won’t let them put me off though!
Why ? Because they have a lot of stupidity and no imagination, that’s why !
Loads of folk have experienced this... just ignore....I read something funny on one of my running group forums yesterday...
This runner posted...
"I nearly caused a crash... some young boy in an old banger thought it would be funny to honk his horn at me whilst gawping out the window. What he failed to notice (until the last second) was the car in front had stopped to turn into Tesco express..."
Enough said....
You are out there and you are running
You know the joke "why do dogs lick their...", "because they can" ?
There will always be idiots, there's one born every minute. As long as cars have horns there will be someone ready to use it inappropriately, but is that really the type of person whose opinions/actions should affect you ? Consider the source. They aren't worth worrying about.
Alternatively get a t-shirt that says "honk if you're an idiot" and put the joke right back on them : )
Because they're thoughtless and a bit stupid?? Earphones in.....won't even hear if it happens again? I recently discovered that I am absolutely pro at not 'hearing' things as I jog along! 🤣
I’d assume it was an encouragement honk, keep at it you are doing great!
I'm a man and it happens to me, I've had a few people flash their lights at me when I'm running at night. I don't know what their motives are so I just assume it's a fellow runner offering encouragement. But It really doesn't make any difference what their motives are, I wouldn't let anyone stop me from doing something I love.
No one would beep me when you see the state of me plus I couldn’t hear with headphones on 🤣
Whether it was a wolf whistle honk or a get out my way honk - just ignore his ignorance. He needs to take a leaf out of your book and do something positive ! 😡 🚘🏃♀️My “jog on” t-shirt says it all.
I recently had some idiot in some very slow traffic shout at me, "You've dropped something, love!" as he gesticulated wildly, pointing at the pavement behind me. I hadn't anything on me besides the trainers, shorts and t-shirt I was wearing and my smartwatch, which was definitely still on my wrist, so I gave him a quizzical look and carried on running. He and his mate guffawed together at this... I honestly think it's bored drivers giving anyone who appears more vulnerable than they are grief because they're bored. Leave them to it and jog on. It did throw me a bit because, as a runner, you are a fellow road user. If a driver flashed at me, or shouted, when I was driving my car, I'd be equally thrown, but then I'd be encased in a tonne of metal with central locking...
