Started at 5:45 a.m. but it was still too hot for me, at 18 degrees already.
Really hated the first 15 minutes. Just not into it at all. I was cursing the weather, my lack of sleep, my lack of energy, the pigeons even.... (It was too early for dogs or other people, so I couldn’t curse them.)
Somehow in the second half I found my way into it. Decided to add in a hill...and survived. At 30 minutes I was feeling OK and enjoying the music, so decided to keep going and finally hit my first 5k distance in a time of 33:54.
That still feels slow to me but I’m hoping it will improve.
Any suggestions for coping with the heat and making the first part more bearable?

I hate the first 10 mins of every run! It does seem to help if I do a bit of aerobic warm up before I set off (squats, side lunges, high knees) but really I just have accepted that I just need to get through the first bit.
Pfft...slow ? If I could run that I would be over the moon !
Well done, sorry the pigeons were a pain ; ) You are very close to a sub 30min 5k ! Well done ! You should be celebrating. Pigeons, heat, a hill and still not happy *insert eye rolling smiley* 😜
