Sketches will fit a shoe to your needs apparently. However I went for asics running shoes with breathable material uppers not leather and they are fabulous. No more hip ache and my ankles don't hurt. They weren't cheap £85 from Very but worth every penny.

I chose myself a pair of Nikes that were comfortable however as my running improved I found my feet were not supported.

I was advised to head to a running shop to be probably fitted, which was great.

I now run in Brooks ghosts 11’s and with theirs extra cushioning is perfect for me.

Everyone is different, so you never now until you try different pairs on.

Happy running

If your going to take up running invest in good shoes. Go to an independent running shop and get a gait analysis done. Running socks and shoes are the most important.

So many.. but different brands fit different feet better and do different jobs for varying terrain etc?

Do you have any running shops near you? If so check out reviews and pop down to the best.

Getting the right type and size (and many brands differ by a half size or more) is so important. Once you know what you need you could shop around for deals although it is nice to give a shop your custom after benefiting from their expertise 👍😉

I went along to a running shop, had a gait analysis done and bought a pair of brooks. They weren’t cheap however a great investment.

Get blue ones, you definitely need blue ones, they are the best and will suit you so well.

As long as you get blue ones, you can disregard features like stiffness, support, cushioning, width, your distance, the surface that you run on (track, trail, road), frequency that you run, gait (over- or under-pronation or neutral), preference for toe-drop and overall fitting (all brands have different 'stock' sizes so a size 7 in one brand will fit like a size 8 in another brands).

If that all seems like a bit too much to take in, pop along to your nearest independent running store, ask them to analyse your gait and help you to chose some running shoes that are suitable for you.
