Week 8

To my amazement I've just completed W8. I'll do a couple more before moving on to W9, because I'm still only getting to 3.5k. Wondering where that extra 1.5k is going to come from as I'm not sure I'm able to go any faster really.

No need for the extra 1.5K just get to the 30 minute runs.. that is all you need to do...relax...and move onto Week 9.

You have completed Week 8...just relax and know you can do those 30 minutes...

Many, many folk do not reach 5K in 30 minutes...and never do... Some of our most awesome and inspiring runners have never done 5K in 30 minutes.

Slow is good... slow and steady and you will be amazed where it gets you to... I am always banging on about it..bit it works..

You are doing wonderfully, so head for that podium and know we and the badge are waiting for you :)

I will be the one with a shell on ... a snail shell :) x

If you look at this pollhealthunlocked.com/couchto5.... you will see that only a small proportion of graduates manage a sub 30 minute 5k during the plan.

You are doing great, you finished Week 8, move on!

Don't worry. I graduated a couple of weeks back and my best 5k time is about 37 mins.

The furthest I've managed in 30 mins is 4k, and I'm happy with that.

Add those final 2 mins on to your week 8 runs, do it three times and you get your shiny "graduate" badge. Distance is irrelevant, it's the fact you completed 3 runs (yes, 3! now think back to W1R1) that counts.

Thank you for the encouragement. Not sure that I enrolled at any point - just been following the programme. Will I still get graduate status? Is it a virtual badge - and where? I feel quite excited now.

Once you've done 3x30 mins pop over to the pinned post healthunlocked.com/couchto5... (or the equivalent one for next month if you don't do it this month), leave your name and one of the admins will attach the graduate badge after your name that will show up any time you post.
