At 48, I m planning to run the London marathon in 2020. Never run a marathon in my life but played football and cycling.
I m planning to run 2 K this morning at a slow pace. I will see where it does take me.

Best wishes for your goal, it will be amazing I’m sure!
Welcome to the forum.
I started out, like you just heading to try to run, but immediately realised that I needed some structure, so looked online and discovered C25K, which this forum is primarily devoted to............. probably the best discovery that I have ever made in my life.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and should answer most of your questions.
We are all capable of doing way more than our bodies are conditioned to do, but consequently, only with hugely increased injury risk, which can stop you in your tracks and be very demotivating.
C25K starts very easy at a pace that you control, but it keeps progression gentle and in nine weeks or so you will be able to run non stop for thirty minutes.
There are no safe quick fix methods to condition your body and slow and steady progress is the watchword at any level of running.
Many C25K graduates have gone on to run marathons and I would recommend this plan as the perfect way to start running and learn along the way.
Enjoy your journey.
Are you not doing the c25k plan starting from the beginning. Doing too much too soon is the first step to injury . The plan is amazing and really works and the best way to get you running 😊
Oh exciting. Did you get a place in the ballot?
