Asics shoe size quandary....

So I just received my ‘Diva Pink’ new ASICS Gel Kayano 25 trainers 😃 but I’m worried they are too small. I’m normally a size 7 and these are 7.5/41.5 (which I thought I tried on in the shop but ordered these online). I mean maybe I’m being stupid as my current ASICS trainers are 42 (which I believe is 8) but I ordered 7.5 because I thought I tried that size on in the shop and am only a 7 with normal shoes. Ah! Confused! They just feel a bit narrow I think and although my toe doesn’t come right to the end, I’m not sure there’s a thumb width, like they say you should have. Thanks for advice! 👍👏😉

I did a very similar thing, tried them on in the shop, and then ordered, once they turned up they felt a lot tighter, i can only assume the amount of people that tried it on helped stretch the one in the store?!

Anyways, a couple of runs later, and they were fine, maybe just wear them around the house a bit to loosen them up :-)

Thanks Scott, that’s a very good point! Yes I may do that! 👍

I think you’re right on the numbers for the sizes. Is the shoe the exact same model as the one in the store?

Thanks for this, yes it’s the same model but two things making me doubt, firstly the fact I have currently a half size bigger trainers (but these an older model and always felt they were slightly too big) and secondly I was convinced I tried this size on in the shop but now doubting myself. Maybe Scott33 has a point about trying on trainers in shops when they been tried on by lots of people. Thanks for your help! 👏

My advice is....Dont try to ‘wear in’ running shoes, they need space for your feet to increase in size when you run , particularly as you increase distance. My running shoes are either two full sizes bigger than my normal shoes, or one and half sizes bigger, dependent on make.

Oh wow ok this is good to know too. Will try them on again and have a walk around the house. If they feel too tight I may just return them and get the size up. Thanks!

I had a quandary when I bought my Asics, I would normally buy a 6 or 39 as it's a half size bigger than I normally take but the sizing said a 6 was a 39.5, I did buy them and they fit well!

Just an update...I got the size 8s (42) in the end. I think one size up as a rule for ASICS is a good idea (but that’s just me), I’m usually always a size 7. These are just right for allowing room for your feet to expand with heat and the trainers themselves are great!
