Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
I would suggest looking on fitness and weight loss as a long term, lifelong change of life.......not just for your holidays.
Follow the plan and eat a broad based healthy diet and the positives will follow. It really is as simple as that.
Enjoy your journey.

I started using Pacer and My Fitness Pal about a month ago. Pacer counts your steps and you can use it as an activity tracker. You can link it to My Fitness Pal which is a calorie counter. As long as you input your weight, the steps and activity you do in Pacer get offset against your calorie allowance and once you have your foods and drinks logged once, it saves them so you can just select them n adjust the amount
I’ve lost 5.3 pounds since I started using them both n I’m not skimping on treats n nice things too much so it doesn’t feel like a diet. Plus if I want a treat n my calorie allowance doesn’t allow for it, I can up my activity levels to compensate for it if I need to
Hope that helps!

+1 for MyFitnessPal.
I've tried dieting for many years but the trouble is that I don't always like the things they want me to eat.
Combining all the things I've liked from all the (many!) diets I've tried over the years seems to be now working for me. Mainly, I do better with lower carbs and higher protein. I eat even if I'm not hungry but try to keep breakfast and lunch under 400 calories. I do eat some (but not all) of my exercise calories and I try to make treat days coincide with running days (or I do extra walks or swimming).
30lbs + down in 15 weeks - quite happy with that. This weekend's little job is washing all the lovely summer shirts I've not been able to get into for several years!!
Good luck!

My advice to you would be very mindful of what you are eating , I used to eat loads of chocolate I couldn't get enough then just thought I don't want this anymore as is put on 4st after stopping smoking. So I took up brisk walking then started couch to 5k in October I have lost 2 and a half stone . 😊😊
