I can’t even begin to describe how I feel right now. Back on my couch at home after completing not only run 3 of week 5 but also my first ever parkrun!
Where to start?
Firstly C25K....I don’t know what magic they are using but it works. Never in my dreams did I think I could run the 20 minutes but I bloody well did. I kept my own pace (slightly faster than a snail) and never once let my head drop.
The parkrun atmosphere was amazing. Truly inspirational. I’m sure the parkrun is the reason I managed to run the 20 minutes as I felt like I was part of something. There were people walking it, walk running it and people pushing buggies. It just made me want to carry on.
I started my warm up walk on the way to the start line, paused it just before the run and started it as soon as the parkrun began. I even managed to do several more short runs during and after the C25K program had ended getting me across the finish like in about 41 minutes. A good 20 minutes earlier than I actually thought I would do
Thank you to everyone on here for the words of wisdom and encouragement. Onwards to week 6 once I’ve had a long soak in the bath and 2 days of rest.
