Week 5 Run 3 - 1st ever Parkrun!

I can’t even begin to describe how I feel right now. Back on my couch at home after completing not only run 3 of week 5 but also my first ever parkrun!

Where to start?

Firstly C25K....I don’t know what magic they are using but it works. Never in my dreams did I think I could run the 20 minutes but I bloody well did. I kept my own pace (slightly faster than a snail) and never once let my head drop.

The parkrun atmosphere was amazing. Truly inspirational. I’m sure the parkrun is the reason I managed to run the 20 minutes as I felt like I was part of something. There were people walking it, walk running it and people pushing buggies. It just made me want to carry on.

I started my warm up walk on the way to the start line, paused it just before the run and started it as soon as the parkrun began. I even managed to do several more short runs during and after the C25K program had ended getting me across the finish like in about 41 minutes. A good 20 minutes earlier than I actually thought I would do :-)

Thank you to everyone on here for the words of wisdom and encouragement. Onwards to week 6 once I’ve had a long soak in the bath and 2 days of rest.

Yeah, yeah, yeah! Well done you 👏 parkrun is the best invention ever......of course......and you have to keep going now.....there’s free t-shirts up for grabs, 50 runs is the first , and 25 volunteers (my purple 25 volunteer shirt is the one I am most proud of)

Enjoy that buzz! #loveparkrun

Fantastic! Well done. I also think this programme is infused with magic, as is parkrun. 41 minutes is a respectable time too for W5R3 (can't remember what mine was but I'm sure it wasn't that fast).
