Knee pain gone!

I have now missed two weeks of running due to very painful knees. A visit to the doctor and advice to rest until pain free. I have been doing a few knee strengthening exercises and have bought knee support compression sleeves ready for starting running again. Feeling apprehensive about continuing the programme as I am worried about the knee pain returning but I am determined to do it. I stopped half way through week 4 but as I have missed a couple of weeks I'm thinking I'll go back to maybe week 2. Any thoughts?

Glad your knees are feeling better... maybe not that far back.. try beginning with an exploratory run.. Week 4 Run 1... we don't lose that much fitness in two weeks. Head out steady and slowly..land lightly and listen to your body :)

Try these exercises too. They may give you reassurance and help you move forward with confidence:)

Thank you 🙂 These are the exercises I have been doing although probably not often enough!

Worth upping them a little, as with your rest day exercise... gentle non impact work helps build the legs up and our stamina and strength too:)

You don't lose significant condition in the first two weeks of non running.

Keep impact minimal by staying slow, keeping footfall under your body not out in front, avoid heelstriking.
