I'm meant to do my final run of week 8 today (I've repeated a few sessions due to illness) and I've woken up with a weirdly sore ankle. I don't remember doing anything specific to injure it, it was fine walking to work yesterday (20 minutes) but around lunchtime I walked to another work site and it started twinging. This morning the ligament down the outside of my ankle is really stiff and sore.
I want to go for my run because I was just getting back into a rhythm after having the flu, but I'm wondering whether it might be best to leave it a few days. Has anyone else had this kind of problem from running? I'm not sure what else it could have been.

I think it is time to rest it. Something has obviously been stressed or pulled and even the smallest movement would do it without you being aware. Yep I have known that twitchy feeling of wanting to run but you may injure it further and then be off for awhile. If it is just slightly sore then rest a day or so, your fitness levels will take it...best wishes
Pain is your body's way of stopping you doing damage. So maybe take a few days now rather than have it turn into weeks later. My ankle is a little stiff today (I think because I normally take 2 days between my 2nd and 3rd run, but only had one). Therefore I'm waiting until Tuesday to do run 3 just in case 😉
