Tight calves

Sorry can’t help you with that one. Maybe stretching afterwards may help ?

Have you had your gait done?

I got horrendous tight calves during my early weeks on the programme. I hadn't considered stretching as I felt a bit of a fraud - "why do I need to stretch when I'm not really properly running?". But since I started a slightly longer warm up and warm down and some stretching each day, my discomfort has increased significantly to the point where it's almost gone now.
Haven't had shin splints, I'm afraid.

Stretching after a run, the right shoes, slowing down, landing flat feet under the body (avoid landing toe first for calf issues and heel first for shins) and the big factor for muscle issues in the run... hydration... will all help. Hope you get past these issues.
