Week 5 Run 3 ✅

I completed week 5 run 3 last night meaning that I am now able to run for 20 minutes without stopping! Feeling super proud! The only downside is now I am experience quite a bit of lower back pain. I’m wondering if this is normal? Or something that I should get checked out?

What running shoes have you got. Are you still in pain?

I just have a pair of standard Nike trainers, there is good support in them :)

My back pain is gone now, it only lasted a day or two

Where are you running? I can’t run on pavements for long without it triggering back pain. It sounds like you might need more cushioning underfoot. Whether that’s different trainers or a softer surface. But I’d go to a doctor first before anything else, as it could be a multitude of things - including a bra that isn’t quite up to the job.

You definitely need good foot wear for pavements.

Runners need good core strength, so working on that on your rest days will make a substantial difference.

I too have just completed this run - first 10 Mins I found a breeze, around 16 mins I started to ache a bit so slowed down a touch but I’m pleased I managed it. I’m going to have a 2 day break now and go for week 6 run 1 Sunday morning
