Wow my first time was great! It made me realize that instead of setting weight loss goals, I’m gonna set up fitness goals. My first one is that I want to be able to run 1 mile under 6 minutes. Currently I can run a mile in under 9 minutes. I hope to accomplish this by may 25. Hopefully by focusing on that I’ll lose weight

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

C25K is about gently building stamina and not about speed. Trying to push pace too early can lead to injury, so build the strength first.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you! I’m mainly just using the app to get me motivated to run again. About 2 years back I was a full time runner so I’m trying to slowly get back to my old average

It is ideal for that, but if you haven't run for two years then you do need a gentle build up to your former form.

Your general principle of setting indirect activity related goals as a route to weight loss is one I have found worked for me.

IannodaTruffe is right... after all there was some sort of reason for the hiatus... and it is a lot harder to pursue the fitness goals from the injury couch.

6 minute miles are quick... but you’ll get there for sure as you’re young still. The running you did 2 years ago will come again, but unless you’ve maintained some running in the interim, your muscles will need to condition all over again, so pushing too hard too soon is risky. Anyway, if you’re gonna set a date on it, my birthday is two days earlier 😂

Maybe take a slightly longer view. You are young, so probably less at risk injury than some of us😊

The long game is the wise game, and its sustainable, both with your running, and your nutrition.

If you eat sensibly, you will be able to maintain the running.

Good luck, Stay well 🤩
