Have I been in hibernation or is it still February? Nice afternoon 7k run, my longest since my injury. Not been outside today so assumed it was nice and cool out there. Nope... felt quite warm as I locked the front door... started the car and it was 69F... back in the house... best take some water.
Parked the car on the edge of civilisation* and I was going to do a hill... this was going to be slow! 3.5k pretty much all uphill on trail, the sun actually burning on the back of my neck, very much reminded of starting to run last summer when I was running late evenings so that it had cooled to today’s temperature. The 3.5k up was the hardest run I’ve ever done, then the turn... felt really great for a few minutes but I knew I would have to put the brakes on. Uneven ground was going to test my ankle was fully healed, I didn’t need speed too. Now I’m happy, the sun is off my neck and the views almost had me stop to take a picture... almost, but I was on a mission. The 3.5k down was probably my best run yet... and then all too soon it was over. Tried to keep the speed down, but was 30 seconds a mile faster than the last run. Soon it’ll be 7.5k... I’m thinking walk up and run down!
Happy running guys.
* I use the word civilisation loosely, I ran from and to Hadfield, Derbyshire.

Kinder Scout is calling me... I figured to run up Jacobs Ladder I’d need about 7k’s worth of flat in the tank, planning that run just before Easter, so I think I’m going to have a little in the tank to run on the plateau too.
I just love your posts UnfitNoMore . Your my inspiration
I've just done my walk from work. 3k in total. This morning and evening. So warm out too. I wanted to jog, but my foot is slightly tender. I'm getting there, and I know it won't be forever.
I'm planning on going to the gym this Sunday since I can't row, I'm sure I can get creative with exercising
Yeah... I’m sure you’ll have a ton of fun in there... could you use the rowers one legged? I never tried it, may not work balance wise... I dunno. Hopping on the treadmill definitely not good 😂. The only tactics for me that worked in the gym was exercising behind a cute girl... so that ruled my school gym out.
You’ll be back soon... and it’s great to hear that you’re getting some exercise and to the legs and feet too.
Ooh lovely part of the country n not so far from me in Sheffield. Glad the ankle coped ok. Might I suggest you download The Weather Channel app? It has a runners forecast on it that’s customisable, I’m finding it a really useful tool for deciding how many layers to wear for a run
I’m down to one layer now n wondering how I’ll cope if it gets warmer, I’m not ready to expose my flab just yet 😩😂
I’m sadly on the wrong side of Sheffield, almost in Nottinghamshire, the bonus being that I’m in the valley bottom so don’t need to go up any of the big hills just yet. If I lived over towards the Peaks I would be much more likely to run up the hills. You could always put the Snake on your goals list 😁
Yeah... it’s on there... it’s 26 miles from my house to Sheffield station, so a solo marathon with an extra 0.2. Of course I won’t get on a train so I could just run to somewhere I’d like to be... Waitrose maybe!
We often go to Center Parcs in Sherwood and go through Sheffield and down... lovely part of the world.
Waitrose sounds infinitely preferable to Sheffield Station 😂
It is lovely over towards Center Parcs. Round here it’s mostly reclaimed mining land (the Battle of Orgreave was just up the road), though Treeton Dyke, where Jeremy Clarkson felt the need to drown a caravan, is really nice n somewhere I will be running when I’ve increased my distance a bit more 🏃♀️
I get free coffee at Waitrose too... I think I’ll have earned one!
My family as I knew them were miners from Wombwell and when I did my family tree I found that there were several generations and migrated from Worksop, so that area is my history.
How nice that you’ve got history in the area. It is lovely over that way, we’re very fond of Rufford Abbey and Country Park, and Clumber of course. It’d be lovely running round there 🏃♀️
I turn up early... run, sometimes the whole course, grab my high viz and cheer them on, especially the newbies. Usually walk/run in with the tailwalker and newbies... I hate when they’re too fast for me to keep up with carrying kit... love seeing them finish it.
I started mid July... and I have more volunteer credits than weeks since then I think... I was doing 3 on 3 off at 5k and every juniors on a Sunday at one point... have only been to the 5k once this year though.
Sounds fabulous. I'd love to do something like that but my difficulty lies in the timing of the runs. They clash with my other commitments which I can't change. I guess my time will come xx
