I was struggling with shin splint type pain right from week one then asked advice from a lady in the gym who is a runner. I was wearing completely the wrong type of trainers. Hunted through the shed and found a pair of Nike running shoes that I had bought at a car boot but hadn't worn. What a difference! My feet felt much more steady as the tread is flatter.
I'm running on the treadmill in the gym. I wear hijab and don't fancy the looks I'd be getting running round where I live! So the gym works for me and I get to do a class while I'm there too.

Comfortable supportive shoes are so important. I wore different trainers earlier this week. Nothing wrong with them but not my usual super cushioned ones (for the physically well upholstered). Probably in my head but immediately began to feel I was going to get an injury.
Hope you get a run outside when your confidence is up - perhaps an organised 5k ? (where there will be lots of like minded and supportive runners who only care about your PB)
I've been wearing my trusty Sketchers until last Tuesday when I bought a new pair of Nike Runners. As comfortable as they were to run in I missed my old ones 😆 I'm sure when I've broken them in I'll be OK but different footwear definitely makes a difference.
Not being familiar with this forum I realised after I posted that there are loads of threads like mine. Oops! Need to try to find a week 5 bit as I've now found out about the 20 minute run and I'm panicking a bit (a lot!).
