Ive never run in my life but always envious of the photos of people who have completed a 5 k run. The jubilation on their faces of their achievement should be bottled. So, ive pledged to do 5k before my 60 th in Dec. Im about to start week 2. Week 1 was excruciating and twice i woke in the night in pain and a headache that needed paracetomol. Im hoping Week 2 will start to normalise the process as today i cant imagine being able to run for 90 seconds!! 60 is hard enough!!
End of week 1 !!: Ive never run in my life but... - Couch to 5K
End of week 1 !!

I've just done W2R1 and it actually felt more pleasant. The difference between 60 and 90 seconds is not particularly noticeable. But what is, is the reduction of repeats from 8 to 6. This makes the whole session seem a lot quicker and I enjoyed it more. You can do it! 👍
Oh and make sure you are drinking plenty of water. That might help with your headaches.

You can do this! I started this in November and graduated on my 53rd birthday having not run since school! Learn to run slowly, your brisk walk can be faster than your run. Search Japanese slow jogging movement for a short film showing a great low impact injury free way of running. It turned things round for me. Also stay hydrated - plenty of water on rest days too - that’s very important. This is an amazing programme and you’ll be absolutely staggered by what you can do - just learn to run slowly and you’ll be fine. Good luck & keep posting so we can follow your progress.
