Mixing Couch 25K with ParkRun works!

I'm 60 and I started in the new year and have followed the app pretty religiously, dieting at the same time (have lost nearly 10kg since early January). Having got to 25 minutes running (for the first time in at least 40 years) I thought this was close enough to 5K to be worth signing up for ParkRun, as there are so many inspirational stories from it. So on Saturday as my Week 7 Run 1, I did my first ParkRun. Did the first 5 minutes of the ParkRun as the warmup walk, which got all the good runners well ahead so no embarrassment, then ran for 25 minutes, then did the warm down 5 minutes walking. I confess I then broke the programme and did just under 2 minutes more jogging to get over the finish line. Total time 37 minutes and 10 seconds; plenty of possibility to improve while sticking to the Couch 25K regime all the way to the end. Thanks to whoever designed the app, it really works! I am delighted at the progress and never thought it would be possible.

Well done you... we always advise waiting to at least Week 7 before joining Park run...sometimes the temptation to push too hard, too soon, can be an issue:)

Fantastic and well done. Now you have a PB time to come back and beat next week. Well done also for sticking to the plan whilst doing Parkrun. I think it’s a cool way to finish off each week by doing Parkrun as run 3. Congratulations again. Just 8 more runs to go. Enjoy.
