Hi everyone well I properly surprised myself on Friday completing W5R3 and ran for a solid 20 mins !!! I actually got quite emotional 😂Ive just done W6R1 - so I’m chuffed to bits with my progress my question is I’d really like to do a park run once I’ve completed the 9weeks but I’m doing my runs on my treadmill and Despite putting it a 1* incline as suggested I’m rather anxious that running outside will be a completely different kettle of fish and my good feelings will be instantly washed away when I step into the great outdoors- am I just being silly ? and is it the dreaded self doubt telling me this ? I’d be very grateful to hear if anyone else has made the transition smoothly - TIA
Park Run is my goal : Hi everyone well I... - Couch to 5K

Hi Dubdog, well done for completing week 5 and moving on to week 6.
I have read on here that some people do find running on treadmill and outdoors very different. Personally I didn’t find a huge difference. While I was doing the programme I would run 2 of the runs on treadmill and the 3rd outdoors. This wasn’t part of a master plan just that I didn’t have access to the gym/treadmill at the weekend and during the week I didn’t initially like running in the dark. My advice would be to just give it a go this time of year and with the current mild weather it is a great feeling.
Good luck.

I haven’t tried the treadmill so can’t offer any transition wisdom. I would say just give it a go? Take it very slowly, find a flattish path/road, preferably somewhere with a lovely view, don’t put yourself under pressure to run further or faster than you already have... just give it a whirl 🙂
