Finally decided to brave the 5k/30 minute route again.

I'd dropped back to doing a 20 or 25 minute run after having a crisis of confidence several weeks ago. Only trouble was, the longer I put off trying the 5k again, the greater the doubts and fear of failure became.

Anyhow, after advising my daughter, (who suffers from anxiety), about facing her fears, I realised I should perhaps follow my own advice and give it a go once more.

So this morning that's what I did. Found it quite hard going, both mentally and physically, and took a little longer, but I'm pleased to say that I did it.

I don't think I'm ever going to progress much further than this. Although a year ago I couldn't run for more than a minute, so who knows what the future may hold.....

There is no failure. It's just running. You can run for 30 minutes. You just don't find it easy at the moment. The more you do it the easier it becomes. This morning I ran for 88 minutes. I'm no different from you, just a bit farther down the road.

That's great result. I have also learnt that walking picks up speed and increases pace on it's own, as if I became a different person as a walker. I think its the brain that takes over and turns walking into swift running. I saw that in chicken who were walking on a small path in Africa. Then at the end they slowed down and walked slowly for few minutes before stopping. Domestic animals are a good examples for us, they have intelligent brains.

Well done for getting it done 💪🏻

And yes, it’s just a mental barrier. Keep moving forward and in a years time you will look back and be super proud. You can already be. Running a full 5k compared to 1 minute !!!!

Never say never Fioona!

If you really want to run further (and you don't have to, it's not obligatory), try running slower - it worked for me.

Also, Ju-ju 's 10k plan is brilliant.

But we'll done just for getting out there and shutting your gremlins up!
