Heya. You’re doing really well so far.

I totally get your fear - I actually had the same fear for the last three days about moving in to week 2.

I expressed that fear and had some really positive responses.

The one I found most useful was to keep looking forward.

You’re better off repeating a run where you didn’t hit your goal, than a run where you know you can get your goal. At least if you don’t get a completion on the next run, it gives you a new goal line for the following run. Just keep trying to move forward. At the end of the day, no one is going to arrest you or fine you for not getting a completion on every single run.

Think positively and you will surprise yourself how well you will get on.

@IonnadaTruffe has an article on this very topic that you may find useful - he’s who I paraphrased earlier.

Thanks so much. I'm going to try week 5 next week. I'll have a read of the article 😀

Don’t be scared! The worst that can happen is that you aren’t able to complete a run... but you still got out and did it anyway! If you completed all 3 runs of week 4 you are ready to move on. The plan suggests that you only need to repeat a week if you haven’t been able to complete the runs, but everyone is different. Trust in the programme, and make sure you are going at a really slow pace 🐌 and you will almost certainly surprise yourself!! Good luck!

Congratulations on completing weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4 of C25K Nanasueby, don't worry about that 20 minute run of week 5, many people are worried about it but once they have ran it they are very proud of themselves.

First run of week 5 is actually 1 minute less running than week 4 (3+5+3+5 vs 5+5+5) so you’ve got that one in the bag already. Don’t fear it. What’s the worst that’s going to happen? Go in positively and confidently and see where it takes you.

Week one was by far the biggest step up in cardio you’ll ever do... you did that. Now you’re almost half way through this plan... you’re much fitter and stronger than you were back then... you can do week 5... your body is ready for it. It’s a wonderful week... slow and steady as you go... you’ll love it.

The increase in TOTAL running from Week 3 to Week 4 is actually the largest increase in the whole program so Week 5 shouldn't hold any fears for you.

Also, think about what the aim of the programme is... 3x 30 minutes running in Week 9 and then think about how you'd get there.... the answer is by being physically and mentally prepared for it by the 'training' provided by Weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.

Now, think about Week 5... how would you prepare for it? The answer is to successfully complete Weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4.

So, Week 1 prepares you for Week 2.

Weeks 1 & 2 prepare you for Week 3.

Weeks 1, 2, & 3 prepare you for Week 4.

Get it? In summary... your body is ready to move onto Week 5 but your mind isn't convinced yet.

One of C25K mantras is that every run prepares you for the next one. So... get out there! You'll be fine :-)

Good luck!

Yes you can (to quote that legendary philosopher Bob the Builder). Week 5 was the first week I had no repeats in. It looks scary but it’s a softy at heart. Take each run slow and steady, keep well hydrated, and if it hurts, slow down a little more. You’ll nail it x

Okay, so you are scared.............of what precisely?

It is impossible to fail this programme, unless you just give up.

If you don't complete a run, then after a rest day, you try again.........you have failed nothing and the rumour that Oldfloss and I will come to force you to run naked around your neighborhood if you don't complete is inaccurate..............we stopped doing that last year!

This is a training plan, not the Spanish Inquisition..........

.........wait for it.........
