New to the program and checking it’s ok?

New to the program, after reccomendations from my mum! 38 and trying to improve cardio and lose some weight.

However work shifts so can’t always run when id like, and only on week 2 so the runs can almost destroy me physically, so the question is if I run tomorrow after work can I carry the week 2 3rd run into the following week? Only because I have plans to cycle on the Sunday which would be the natural next run day.

Cheers.

As you’re doing some cycling it’ll probably be fine. I’m noting your ‘the runs can also destroy me physically’ - I think you’re running too fast! You’re just beginning, hopefully, a lifetime of running. There’s plenty of time later for pace and distance. This is about learning to run for 30 minutes.

I found this very useful for learning how to run slowly

I’m a fast walker generally, so my brisk walk is fast, I had to learn to run much slower than my walk - then the runs won’t destroy you!

Good luck!

Welcome. A week here can be 6 days, 7 days or a little longer... I wouldn’t recommend making it a 14 day week, but what you are suggesting is fine.

I am a run-when-you-can runner and the advice here has always been that fitting it in is fine as long as you get at least your one rest day. It’s worked for me, tho’ I’ve never had to have more than 3 days off in a row.

Also, do check out the various links on running slowly. I have learned to be a veritable snail and still find the cardio benefits have built up. It’s about duration and stamina, not speed or distance. Enjoy!

Just do what suits you as long as you have rest days in between good luck

Well I took some advice here and slowed my pace, took my french bulldog who acted as a speed break, and my god what a difference. I did week 2 run 1 again and it was far more enjoyable and I felt better after. So thank you for the advice everyone
