Yesterday I ran my second parkrun and thoroughly enjoyed it, shaving 2 minutes of last weeks time😁.
After last weeks liquid mud experience I decided to indulge myself in a pair of “trail running shoes”. They are water resistant with soles that are more “rubbery and knobbly” (for grip) than “wavy and spongy” (as with my road running shoes). They were great and my feet were perfectly dry at the end and I ran through muddy and squishy corners with confidence. If you run on soft wet grass and mud they are worth considering - just make sure they are cushioned enough for your liking (I returned the first pair as they were way too hard).
My big surprise though was to find I actually disliked listening to music on the parkrun where I like music when running alone. I much preferred to know what was going on around me and being able to think clearly about what was left so I switched it off after one lap!
