Getting back to 5k

Please excuse a brief backwards look to 2018 which for me ended on a real downer. Coming back from a early in December Parkrun (I broke my record)to find that my wife had had an accident - our dog knocked her leg and it had gone black and was swollen thigh to ankle so we ended up in A&E. That started a saga of a long stay for her in 2 hospitals over Christmas and New Year, multiple operations - happily now she is home and well on the mend. My running however suddenly ended. So after 7 weeks of ‘back to the couch’ and a lot of running to and from the hospital this Monday I again strapped on the running shoes and (honestly) somewhat reluctantly tried a 30 minute run. And I did it!!! Followed up with circuit training on two days, a long fast walk and another 30 minutes this morning. My times are well down and my muscles hurt like hell for the first two days but I now feel that I am back. And it’s all credit to the programme - it was only in September that I took up C25K and started running with my lungs bursting after just 1 minute. It’s just amazing that even with the long break I am still able to do 30 minutes non stop. And another big plus of the running - when my wife finally came home I was told by friends that I had aged 10 years and looked grey and drawn. In the last 5 days I am now back to where I was almost two months ago - feeling mentally much better and looking as good as I probably can !!!Thank you C25K
