Hi guys, some of you may remember me , others maybe not. Last year I embarked on couch to 5K in a quest for fitness . I managed to get to week 8 before I started to struggle but I kept at it and was repeating that week over and over but not really getting anywhere. At the end of October I became very unwell and had to stop. To cut a long story short In early December I was still unwell and saw my GP for the third time which resulted in me being hospitalised and an MRI scan of my brain. I was shocked to be diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. It explained much of the problems I had been having for at least 2 years prior to this which I had thought was just me getting older. My balance is now very poor and I have a very odd gait so I walk like someone whose had one too many G&Ts 🙃. Even with my legs feeling like electric is running through them constantly I’m not quick either 😂 This also means running is fraught with danger so I’m bowing out and instead I’m going to be building on my strength and fitness with walking and Pilates. Keep it up all of you , you can and will succeed in this brilliant programme and I wish you lots of luck . Xx
I’m bowing out : Hi guys, some of you may... - Couch to 5K

I am so sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself. Please come over and join us on the Active 10.( Ignore the title, it goes with the Public Health for England app) it is a walking forum and we have all abilities and it is as supportive and friendly as this one
I am so sorry to hear your news. However, you are doing many positive activities. Keep it up. I don’t drink but I will raise a cup of coffee to you. And run my next run on Saturday with you in mind. Positive thoughts x
Bless you. Exercise can help with MS, so good for you doing Pilates and walking.
Take care 🌻
Hi Jules. I’m sorry to hear this, what a shock for you. I hope with your diagnosis comes good support for you. Enjoy your Pilates and walking (it’s more sociable, at least!) and thank you for your best wishes for our C25k journeys. Kt x
Ah, what a shock for you! Take heart & switch to your Pilates and walking. Also remember the NHS will work with you. We have a friend with MS who has been doing well on her medication for about 15 years so far, not losing noticeable ground and enjoying her passion which is gardening. All the best!
Jules1968, so very sorry to read your story and I very much wish you luck and good health with continuing some level of exercise.
I am on a similar journey with an MS diagnosis two years ago. Obviously it affects everyone differently and I feel lucky that I started running after diagnosis and it will take a lot to stop me. 😁 On MS info sites it's full of marathon runners!!
Best of luck.
Awww I’m sorry you are going through this too. I know many still manage to run and one guy I know did marathons. Tbh if I didn’t have Ataxia as one of my symptoms I would keep at it but I’m too dangerous staggering around 😂 I hope you continue to be able to run for many more years to come . Are you on MS uk Fb site ?
Oh wow, so sorry to hear this, Jules. Thank you for still being so encouraging even in this, and all the very best as you embark on this new unexpected journey.

Sorry to hear that, Jules. Hope that the new fitness regime works well for you and that you get the right support if/as you need it. All the best for whatever lies ahead x
Best of luck with the walking and Pilates. The latter may help keep your balance better for longer. ☺️
