Hi guys !! Just a quick question re 'fasting', and it's place, generally speaking, in a running programme such as C25K ? What would be the potential benefits or draw backs ,of incorporating it in to a "fit for life", way of living, with any sort of regularity ?
To fast ,or not too fast ?: Hi guys !! Just a... - Couch to 5K
To fast ,or not too fast ?
I don’t buy into it... I think that a good balanced diet is better than fasting. For this plan, you should be fine though... stored glycogen in the muscles should fuel your run and so I don’t see fasting as a negative factor.
I am in total agreement with UnfitNoMore
Just eating a sensible, broad and balanced diet is the way to a healthy body, although fasting shouldn't stop you from running..........but I would not recommend it.
As someone who has never been overweight, I am amazed at the variety of dietary contortions that so many people subject themselves to............and if any of them worked long-term, in a foolproof manner, why do new faddy diets keep appearing?
I have been doing 16:8 fasting since the beginning of November, started C25K in December and they worked together fine for me up to a point. I could run just as well in morning as evening. The last month though I found the weight loss has stopped, so I have started to eat breakfast again, going back to counting calories and now the weight has started to drop again.
Just like E27M14 I have been doing the 16:8 fasting, eating a healthy diet and become addicted to running thanks to C25K, and have gone from weighing 14st 9lbs to 12st 5lbs and am still steadily losing about 1lb a week, so it has worked for me and has not affected my running that I know of.
I just know I can't run empty! I need carbs too or my legs go wobbly. Fasting would not work for me.
