Ok folks - am in need of some motivation today!! Virtual kick up the bum needed! TIA 😆
Help!!: Ok folks - am in need of some motivation... - Couch to 5K
Help!!
Here's one coming your way!👟 😀
You will feel so so so much better when you've done it! If you don't you'll be kicking yourself this evening. Maybe create a new playlist (plenty of disco!!) . I have learned that you should never delay a run unless you *absolutely have* to. Every time I've delayed (often with a seemingly good reason) something has then happened which has meant I couldn't run (food poisoning!). So don't delay, put those shoes on and go!
And then you can feel all happy and smug - because YOU RAN TODAY - YAY!!
Good luck!
It's gonna make you feel just GRrrreat....c'mon you!
Motivation has to come from you...........but we might be able to change your perspective.
Why did you want to start running?
What were you hoping to get out of C25K?
Have those reasons disappeared or changed?
My motivation to start running, at the age of 57, was to try to avoid the seemingly inevitable decline in stamina and reduce my risk of succumbing to the life limiting conditions that so many of my slightly older peers were living with.......heart disease, diabetes and stroke were rife.
At 60 I was fitter and happier than at any time in my life and I attribute most of that to running.
Aged 61, I was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer, but told that because I was fit and not under medication for any other conditions, that there would be no restrictions on the treatment I could be offered.
A year and a half later, after radiotherapy and ongoing hormone therapy, I am still running, with only a three week break after internal radiotherapy.
My GP, oncologist and specialist nurses all agree that my good fitness levels have contributed to the general lack of impact of either the cancer or the treatment.
There is another year of hormone therapy to go and it is reducing my muscle mass, which has slowed my running and latterly caused me aches in knees and ankles, just like a new runner, because of reduced support from the surrounding muscles. I dread to think what state I would be in now, had I not been fit and strong at the outset.
You never know what your body is going to have to cope with in the future, so don't take it for granted. You owe it to yourself and your family to be as fit as you can be.
Does that help?
The rewards are amazing.......get going!!
Oh wow everyone- thank you for ALL your replies! I’m re-framing it as a treat for my body and a reward for finishing my tax return (!!😩!!) - and will get out there as soon as I’ve tweaked my playlist/podcasts!
This truly has to be the best and most friendly forum I’ve ever encountered - thank you 💖
Wish I'd used mine as a reward for doi g my tax return. Todays run was definitely more tax return avoidance...!
Don’t you want to feel good?! 😉😊
Think on how great you feel when you’ve finished a run - then think on what you’re missing out on today - go on, this could be your best run yet - and you’re in danger of missing it!! Looking forward to reading your post run report later..😀😀😀
