Hi everyone. I just finished R3 W1 and it was tough! Is it normal to really struggle up hill? I run outdoors as I like the fresh air but if I hit a hill it kills me and I can't keep running. Is this normal, any tips?
Running Up Hill: Hi everyone. I just finished R... - Couch to 5K
Running Up Hill
Yes definitely harder , I find I'm better with smaller steps. head up and go as far as you can. If you walk you walk but like all the other stuff it builds till your Rocky at the top of the hill. Good luck
It’s definitely normal, and Val1965 is right - if you can keep your rhythm but take smaller steps, it’ll go better x
Only to plan the flatest route possible. I don't do well on even a steep incline!
They will make you stronger though 😊
Yes, it's harder and I think I'd be faster walking but having done the same one twice, it does get easier. I take very small steps so concentrate more on keeping my effort the same. I'm nearly running on the spot but not quite!
UnfitNoMore, seems the hill gremlins are back at it!
Yep... uphill is harder work, downhill is harder on the joints. Flat routes help early on... I spent most of the plan avoiding hills and running around football pitches and the likes in parks. The run may have been tough, but you were tougher and completed it. Enjoy the next one.
