So have just tried to do day one week one, and couldn't manage more than 4 X 60 seconds, and didn't really finish these..... Should I give up now?

No! It is hard but don’t give up. I found it hard at first however I found if I just slowed down a bit and you will do it. Promise! Don’t stop and don’t give up. You’ve got this.

Please do not give up...many, many folk felt the same way.

It is new..it is different..it can be tough!

Many folk thought they may collapse on the first run..many ran near hospitals just in case... yet, here they still are still running and doing amazing things.

Check out the post for Newbies...FAQ.. and then.. rest up and head out again... lower than slow! Think snail on a go slow.... :)

Just head out... try to take it gently and relax... we re all running right there beside you... I am the one whispering, slow and steady. You will do this:)

Nooo!

The first one is a shocker, killer, whopping big eye opener. And I think also the worst one.

You were probably going too fast.

You think you should be running, don't.

Aim for a very very slow jog, your walk may be faster, and that's okay.

Have a rest day, then go again, really slowly, this programme works brilliantly.

Good luck 🤩

Keep going and like suggested maybe slow down. Is your brisk walk maybe too brisk? Not leaving energy to increase to a jog?

When I started my brisk walk, was not as fast as I could walk - I just walked normal pace! Then couldn’t wait for the voice to say ‘and walk’. Don’t give up - you’ve done well by starting and for some (including myself) it doesn’t come naturally or easily!

It does become easier or should I say manageable 👍🏻

Definitely don’t give up ohmygoodness. This plan definitely works. I am assuming you are fit enough to briskly walk the full time already. If not you need to build up to that first.

Next time, just go out and make sure you go as slowly as you can during the running phase. This is just a gentle jog. It was difficult for many of us at the beginning but I promise it gets better. Only repeat a run if you you cannot complete it.

You may not enjoy the experience for a while but you will love the feeling when you’ve done it.

No, don't give up. All the previous advice is good advice. Maybe next time you could do 5 of the one minute runs and after that 6 of the one minute runs and increase slowly. I found the first run hard but just keep going and know that bit by bit you can do it.

Don't give up. I felt the same but slowed down a bit and have just completed week one. It's still hard and not looking forward to week two. Keep going. Good luck.

Thank you all, I cannot believe how unfit I currently am.... or to be honest how much weight I put on over last month! Will definitely try again over next few days, and take on the advice about slowing down 👍x

No don’t give up you did 4 which is 4 more than you have ever done before so brilliant job well done. I found in the early weeks I tended to run too fast and got very tired but once you have found your pace even it’s slower than you’d like you’ll smash it

Please don't. I've just completed R1WK1 and it was tough. We can do this

As everyone else said, don’t give up! I only completed 3 of the 60 seconds in run 1. Repeat it, more than once if you need to. I’m on week 6 now!

Hi OMG, welcome to you from the queen of week 1. I claim the title because it took me nine weeks of repeats to conquer it. At first I could barely jog for 20 seconds - not 8 repeats of 20 seconds, just one - and I was horrified. After being appalled by 1:1 I decided to start as a walker, brisk walks in the walking sections and “walking to catch the post office just before it closed” in the runs. Then I moved on to jogging 10 seconds and fast walking, then 20 and so on. As I say, it took nine weeks before I could do 8 repeats of 60 seconds three times. Then another three weeks to beat week 2 ! But I’m now on week 6, I’ve jogged for 20 consecutive minutes, and even if it takes a few months yet, I will graduate eventually. So will you. Allow yourself to be a bit unfit. It would be pointless being here if you were already able to race along ! You belong with us and we believe in you. Take it slow and steady, especially at first. Let your body build up gradually. Not everyone bashes straight through, because we’re all different, and that’s why there’s a repeat function ! Be proud of you for getting here at all. Be proud every time you get up and get out there. And always remember the First Rule of C25k: The only run you fail is the run you don’t go for ! Enjoy your journey x

Thanks OMG. Doesn’t matter how long it takes, just that you keep trying. You can do this ! xx

Absolutely don’t give up. Run when you can, if that’s for 60 sec then so be it. You will improve but it’s hard at first because your body isn’t used to it. I used to run 10k’s but am using this program to get back into it after injury. You feel rubbish at first but you’re not a failure as long as you get out and do what you can. It’s soooo worth it if you stick at it.

No certainly not give yourself some more time to get used to c25k, have a rest day then go out and try again. Bet next time you do it good luck

I couldn't finish W1R1 either, but I just thought to myself that should be a reason to continue rather than to give up...!

Hey and guess what, if you think that way every time you can't complete a run, you'll run right to the end :)

You started and that's the hardest! See how many of us want to see you keep going! Just think of all other beginners out there (like me) that you will inspire by persevering. You are going to manage it, just start slow!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Just try again, a bit slower.

Each attempt builds your stamina and strength.

You can do this.

Enjoy your journey.

Please don't give up. It took me two weeks to fully complete week one run one. I am now on W9 R2 please believe in yourself. I nearly gave up but I put my faith in the advice and kept going. This is your time to make such a positive change for you. in week one when I struggled I walked a run to give myself more time to recover but until I was ready to do the 8 runs. You've got this and we are all here to support you.

Never give up. Try, try again. Nothing worth achieving is easy.

Take your time, keep at it. You'll get there and feel simply amazing by the end of the programme.

You can do this IF you want it 👍💪😁

Well done on doing the run again. You can do this. As I said before I done run one many times before I could fully complete it. I have just now finished W9 R2. I honestly can't believe it and if I can anyone can. Im overweight and had not excersised since school. Good luck on your journey!
