Struggling week 7

After a break of 10 days I thought I’d struggle with R1w7 but managed it no problem then found run 2 hard and run 3 harder still. Finding my legs are tiring quickly but my breathing is fine.

Any tips? Should I repeat week 7 or battle on to week 8?

I would rerun week 7 before going on to week 8, however, it's only 3 minutes more running, just take it slowly and hopefully it'll be OK

You completed the runs though... so that’s good, very well done. Maybe an extra rest day will help now... normal rest day with cross training and then a couch day?

What else is going on in your life?

Everything can affect your running. Restedness, diet, sleep, etc. etc....

What about hydration? Often overlooked but crucial to performance, especially as runs get longer. 2.5 to 3 litres per day is recommended.

If you struggle, slow down.

Good point.. I have way too much going on at the moment as my elderly mother is in hospital recovering from heart bypass and I’m fitting my running in between work, hospital visits and Xmas prep so definitely over tired. I’ll have an extra rest day and carry on to week 8.

Thanks

Me too. Don't know why but was a real struggle today. Maybe slow the pace down and see if that helps

Remember that since week 6 you've stopped taking walk break so that your last 4 runs have been 25 minute non stop. Something like 15 kilometres non stop cumulative, that's what your legs are getting used to. Trust the plan, each run and each week prepares you for the next. Try week 8 after a few days rest. You may be pleasantly surprised and if not,no probs, just repeat week 7. Keep it slow and steady, you'll smash it
