Hi everyone and welcome to yet another new and exciting running week.

For those of us new to winter running- my first winter I found it useful to make a note of the temperature, the number of layers I wore, and how I felt from a warmth point of view. Very quickly you will begin to recognise what gear you need for what conditions....... everyone is different in their preferences so it might be worth a try maybe?

So, getting back to our chatty chat........We are all so busy... life can be hectic .... and even more so for us runners!

Fear not, here is a place to take five, and enjoy a good old natter about our running adventures, trials, tribulations, successes, achievements etc.

Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up, but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week.

If you're a lurker it is a great place to say a little hi, without the pressure of a full post.

So pull up a chair, slip off the running shoes, and settle down for a little chin-wag!

Wishing you all a happy, healthy, great running week.

I have decided to retire from scree surfing!

So, I’m out for a few weeks, but today I walked up the stairs again without screaming in pain! I’ll take that as a victory. Still hurts like hell when I forget and turn with my right foot on the ground.

Reading today’s posts about pace and distance really reaffirmed in me that I don’t care about either. Planning my comeback routine and the first week will be half mile runs at recovery pace, and I’ll love them... it will take me 5/6 weeks to hit 5k again, I’m very aware that the stretched tendons and ligaments will need strengthening again... slow and steady! Just need to know where the start line is... but as long as I know there is one I’ll be fine.

Happy running guys, I’m cheering you all on... I’m getting a virtual megaphone so you hear me shouting β€œslow down” when it’s tough out there.

Heres a virtual hug UFNM, been on that same IC so I know its not particularly enjoyable. Take your time and come back refreshed πŸ‘πŸΌ

I shall! It’s not a bad place to be... I’m on the couch so much fitter and healthier than I was 6 months ago... that’s the important thing I think.

Glad you're improving UNM, and that you are planning on taking it slowly for recovery, slow and steady really is the name of the game.

Hope you’re better soon, must be awful... does it flare up often?

β€’ in reply toUnfitNoMore

I was only diagnosed after being in hospital with peritonitis back in May 2018. As Im in my 50s it was a late diagnosis. I suppose once every 6 weeks is about the average for me now. This one has been patticually bad mind you.

Still I think Im on the mend. ☺

Oh BM, hope you’re up and running again soon. I suppose the positive here is that you’ve missed the foul weather we’ve been having πŸ’¦ πŸ’¨

Hi Millsie

I started my C25K journey on a treadmill before I was brave enough to run outside. Since then I’ve been outdoors all summer and autumn. I struggle to motivate myself to run now it’s dark before and after work so have been back on the treadmill in the gym, and I’m not enjoying it so much. Can’t wait for the light mornings. Come on summer! Whinge over! Happy running everyone πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

You are maintaining running legs so that’s brilliant! You may get a run or two in over the holiday period maybe? Those days will start to lengthen again soon!

Still trying to run 3 x a week but happy if I do 2 x given the dark nights and hectic schedules that December is. Have recently done 9km which am really pleased about, although I think 5k will be my favourite distance for a while. Planning on trying to get to 10 km when it's the holidays but if it happens it happens!

Hello! Lurker here... I just attempted W4R3 before my work shift this afternoon, and only managed half - been feeling like I'm coming down with something for the last few days and just ran out of energy... At least I gave it a go, I suppose?

Evening...

I did 19mins of HIIT training on the treadmill.

My plan for the week is:

- 3 days of 30mins running (easy pace)

- 3 days of HIIT training

Happy running all!

Hey guys, I’m definitely not a lurker and I post and comment Far Too Much! But it’s fun and I feel so excited to share my experiences with you all (*collective groan*) I freely admit I go on a bit ...... πŸ™„πŸ˜…

Out for my repeat 8k a bit later on this morning. The weather is meant to be perfect so it can only be better than last week’s clunker of an 8k. πŸŒπŸ˜ πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ. But subsequently I enjoyed a sweaty 4k on the treadmill (loved it!) and an awesome parkrun where I’m pretty sure I achieved a 5k PB. It was my 2nd best parkrun time - my time is skewed by starting at the back with my doggie, but I wouldn’t be without her as she loves parkrun! β€οΈπŸ•πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

You’re all fab people and we’re all fab runners! Have a happy day. β€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€οΈ

I’m supposed to do w4 third run today but my daughter in law is in labour and I’m so excited and anxious i don’t think I can think about anything else - like coordination and not falling over. So I’m off to pilates and will try again later today!

Managed to do 20mins instead of 30. I think after 9day break I struggled a little with longer run. Decided to take it easy by doing 20 instead 30.

2/6 workouts done for the week.

SamSam17 profile image
SamSam17Graduate

I did another 20mins of HIIT workout on the treadmill today.

3/6 workout planned for this week done!

Tomorrow will be my rest day as I’m going out to dinner with ex-colleagues.

SamSam17 profile image
SamSam17Graduate

Today I did 25 of running at fairly low pace.

4/6 workouts completed!

I’m just using this weekly thread to remain accountable.

Hope you don’t mind Millais-J
