Just done my first post graduate run for 30 minutes and again I am really out of breath. The more I try and control my breathing the more I am aware of gasping. I know its cold out there today and morning running doesn't really suit me but any tips on how to better control how I breathe? I'm not too bad on the flat but uphill is a killer!
I am really loving running but I seem to have reached a bit of a fitness plateau and don't want to give up now.

I distracted myself with some spoken word in my ears... first was podcasts and then Nike guided runs. I had to concentrate on the voice so I didn’t worry about my breathing at all and it worked itself out. Now I tend to do guided runs with a playlist or regular runs with a podcast.
Pretty much straight away... I just relaxed and figured my subconscious gets my breathing right all day, so it could also do the next 30 minutes... then podcast on and listen intently. Nike have some guided runs called running with Headspace... running meditation, can’t beat it, and they really focus you on different things.
