Can anyone advise when bone development is such that it's ok for yp to run 5k please? I'm toying with taking my 10 and 13yo out with me at the weekends. Tia

I am not an expert on physical development but I believe that 10 and 13 year olds will be fine.

Don't overlook the need for good footwear.

Running in your formative years is the best way to build up bone density, which will give benefits for an entire life.

Please read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... for general information.

Enjoy your journey.

We have a few under 10s at parkrun every week, some are running the whole thing, others are run walking. My 12 year old did the programme and hasn’t had any issues... she wants to go to 10 miles now apparently. I think your kids will be more than fine.

Many kids are running about every chance they get anyway. As long as they know that slowing down is a strategic choice, not a failure; that water is good; and you can see they’re having fun, I don’t see a problem. Wish mine would join in !
