Just finished wk3r3 - no exercise for years - keeping it slow and steady as per advice here - but knees and legs pretty uncomfortable. Assuming a little pain and stiffness is normal ? Awkward moment at the garage this morning when I checked tyres and had to roll to get up after kneeling to put a cap back on ....

The pain is primarily caused by the impact, so do all you can to reduce it.
Slow down, avoid heelstriking, keep footfall under your body not out in front, run on grass or treadmill, wear proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop.
Any strengthening exercises will also help.

With strengthening work and the great advice above you’ll be able to run comfortably soon. I’d suffered with my knees for 30 years and now I’m running without pain.
