I've just completed w6r1 and halfway through Michael Johnson said to focus on breathing deeply...I admit I am struggling in this department! I'm finding it hard to breathe through my nose. Any tips?!

Do what comes naturally!! I’ve tried breathing through my nose & out through my mouth but never felt l got enough oxygen in. I’m now a converted mouth breather. Who would have thought something we’ve done since we were born could become complicated lol

Yeah... forget breathing through the nose, and try to forget breathing at all... the body tends to have you breathing enough! I still don’t actively control my breathing, maybe subconsciously I breath in a way that is described, maybe not, but I survive every run 😂

Breathe through your mouth...just do it however it feels comfy..if you're struggling at all..slow down..😉

I mouth-breathe to footfalls as soon as I start ‘in-2-out-2’ and it definitely helps me avoid the ‘toxic 5’ (or 10) but only because I find rhythm easy to do. I have a dance background, and I swim (which is in through the mouth and out through the nose, so 🤪). If I were stressed by trying to keep a rhythm it would just waste energy, so just relax 😁👍

There is a section in the guide to the plan on breathing healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and a link to a useful article.

Relax and breathe and if it is still tricky, slow down.

Sounds a little mad but try talking to yourself as you run, it will regulate your breathing ☺️
