Is it just me, but breathing deeply through my nose while I run I just get dizzy. I feel ok with a) mouth slightly open and breathing normally; b) blowing air out ---mind you, with tendency to dribble. I believe SteveCramp once posted similar problem.

I feel that I don't get enough air in if I breathe through my nose and end up gasping for air. I just breathe through my mouth normally and I'm fine (so far anyway).

I agree I end up gasping when I breath through my nose. I'm another mouth breather and I'm not so good at slowing my breathing down either.

Exactly, me too.

Short of strapping an oxygen tank on my back breathing through my mouth seems the best way for me!

Mouth breather here too. I try nose in and mouth out but it just doesn't feel natural.

I'm all mouth, you probably have already come to that conclusion anyway ;)

Looks like we are all the same - so why this nose thing I wonder?

I used to be able to breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth, no problem, when I did yoga regularly. That was 2-3 years ago. I start running and I just 'can't get enough air in' if I try to breathe in through my nose, so it's mouth (through gritted teeth when there's flies!) for me too. I feel like I would benefit from some sort of breathing exercise but not sure what.

You could try pilates to help improve your breathing. Part of its exercise is to be able to slow down your breathing pattern in through your nose and out through your mouth which I don't have a problem with when doing pilates but when I run it seems to throw my ability to take enough of a deep breath in through my nose so I prefer mouth.

Laura tells us to breathe in deeply through our noses as we need oxygen. As I said, that makes me hyperventilate. I guess I'll get there eventually...
