Return to running after 30 years

Hi. I've just completed wk2 and I'm pleased to say I'm feeling ok. Just the usual muscle pains which is only to be expected. I'm 57 and used to run in my 20s but switched to cycling because of knee pain. Decided to give running another go whilst still cycling because my son runs and I want to run a 10k with him. Going for a gait analysis this afternoon and will then probably buy new shoes. My knees still hurt so I'm hoping a good pair of shoes will help with that. The hardest part for me is sticking to the programme. I found I was doing more than I was supposed to in these 1st 2 weeks. So I will try to hold back and stick to the schedule from now on.

Welcome to the forum and welcome back to the fold so to speak 👍

Do read the guide to the programme healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

There is definately something to be said for holding back and the programme is great for keeping you wanting to do that bit more but also keeping your body within its limits

Enjoy your journey! 😁

Thanks JoJo. I have read the guide, some useful information there. I never expected I would return to running but life is full of surprises. Might even try my local parkrun on Sat

It is indeed! Maybe look at some knee strengthening exercises to help keep your knees ahead of the game. Most of all have fun 👍😁
