Graduated early September and completed 5K shortly after. However since then, have struggled to increase my speed or distance. Such lovely weather today so decided to do at least 5K and see how I went. Realised after 2K that my mapyourrun app wasn't working😠, however I carried on running, added a complete new loop ( I guess another 1K) and arrived back home feeling really good. So extra distance done - I guess the run was about 6K . Just need to up my pace now but very pleased with myself today🤗.
Post C25K plateau?: Graduated early September... - Couch to 5K
Post C25K plateau?
Pace and endurance are related... and my advice depends on your running goals.
If you want to do 5k faster, go for a 5k race plan and you’ll get varied runs. The tracking apps offer these and tailor to you as you go... most charge. You will do long runs beyond 5k but these are less frequent than the other option.
If you also want to increase distance and go to 10k, join bridge to 10k and follow ju-ju’s amazing plan. When you can run 10k you can run 5k quicker.
The two options focus on different priorities, both will take you to 10k plus, both will improve your 5k times.
Well done on the 6k! I agree with UNM - the Bridge has been great for my 5k times, but longer distances aren't everyone's cup of tea as UNM says. There are Nike app runs and NHS strength and speed runs as podcasts too. Or just go with the flow and keep running until you feel so comfortable you want a new challenge.
Well done.
