Had a very odd & totally new experience today - I have been looking forward to my run all day; very unlike me!!
Did run 1 of week 3 and it was good - I coped with the 3 minute stints much better than I thought I would. However, towards the end my calf muscles were getting really tight - any tips on how to counteract that for future runs? Thanks!

Make sure you are warming up really well and that you are stretching well after each and every run.
Try to land lightly too..I call it kissing the ground with your feet Sometimes when we begin we do tend to thump down a little...After the post run stretches,,, plenty of massage of those muscles and a few calf exercises too may help
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

As well as following her advice, try slowing down, make sure footfall is under your body not out in front, run on treadmill or grass, and wear proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop.............all these things reduce the impact of running.
