Oh I don’t go fast, I’d pass out lol, my shins are sore too

Ouch, shin splints? Extra days rest if there still sore on your next run?

They’ve been like this a few days, they are t getting worse but no better either. They don’t really hurt when I run, it’s after, I’ve bought new trainers hoping they’ll help

Did you have a gait analysis for your trainers? Hopefully the new ones will give extra cushioning & reduce impact. There’s info on pinned post re sports related injuries too. IannodaTruffe is a font of knowledge on these things 👍🏻

No I didn’t have the analysis, I expect it’s expensive, not within a single Mum spare cash flow.

I do have a high arch which may be causing the issue

Kudos to you Monica for making time for yourself. Hopefully your new trainers will help resolve your shin problem 👍🏻

You can get past shin splints but I do sympathise. I had that years ago when I was doing fitness training for the police force. In the end it cost me that particular career but this time around I haven’t had the problem at all. I do remember it being agony though.

It’s probably because I’m so unfit and new to running, I’ve ordered new trainers though to see if they help.

Bonus is, I’ve got in a pair of trousers this morning that I couldn’t 2 weeks ago..!!! No change on the scales but I must be losing inches 🤗

You can do the 3... don’t worry about it. Get your next run out of the way and relax, you will be ready.

Fear not Monica. It’s tough but you can do it. You’ll be surprised how quickly you fitness builds but don’t worry about repeating runs or even whole weeks if you need to.

I will repeat if I have to but I’m a determined soul lol

in reply toMonica1969

Good for you, go for it. You really will be surprised how quickly it comes together and how much you really can do. A great deal of it is in your head and as Henry Ford once said ‘whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right”. Have faith, you can.

Well I packed up smoking just over 4 months ago after seeing dad pass away with lung cancer, so if I can get through that addiction I can do this run 💪💪💪💪

in reply toMonica1969

There you go, you already have a record of high achievement so there can be no doubt that you can do it.

If you can manage the 3 runs of week 2, week 3 will be fine. The runs of week 3 are actually shorter 25 minutes inc warmup and cool down. You will surprise yourself just take it one step at a time (literally). I love found as the runs get longer, it's best to relax as much into it. There are the odd rare times when I sometimes forget that I am running and time goes so much quicker. Keep at a pace throughout the whole program that you are comfortable with and you will get through it run by run :)

Thanks sHAYMA4N I won’t give up trust me, I know it’ll be hard running for 3 mins, well the thought of it is lol but as you say, I might surprise my old self lol

You can do it. It's hard I won't lie but most of it is in your head. Never ever believed I would run for 5 mins but have done it 4 times already this week. But stiff but strangely looking forward to next run. You think you've got it bad I just looked at W5 which waits me next week lol

You can do it

Lol oh don’t scare me ha ha ha

Some runs will seem harder than others for no real reason but dont dwell on it, you did it so well done..

As for the next run. No problem you got this . Take it as it comes . Run as slow as you need to complete the timed runs ..

The program works on controlled progression and it works..

Keep at it you are doing great 😁
