keeping going beyond week 9.....

So I completed the 9 weeks about a week ago, ran my first 5k on Saturday in 38 minutes - not sure I am ever making the 30 mins but who cares

Just struggling with how to keep it up through the winter right now if i don't run for 5 days its painful getting back to it

how do people keep up the motivation?

Depending on your schedule the biggest problem may be finding places to run in the dark or times to run in daylight. Not every day in winter is cold or wet and snow isn’t usually more than a week here and a week there. The other option is the gym, and most are accessible via day passes if you don’t need a membership for other equipment.

You got through the programme, you can do some cold weeks... they’re better than that heat we had!

Decide what type of person you are

- if you are a “rules” person with a regular schedule then put the run in your online diary and set a reminder, and keep that appointment. Diary “pack running kit” for the morning too!

- if you are a “social” person then try having a running date with a friend. This makes it an obligation - it’s harder to let down a frien than let down yourself

- if you are easily bored then plan training beyond just going out and running steady pace each rime, try going back to week 5 or week 6 and substitute walk for a slow jog and try and pick up the pace on the run portions. This interval training should help you go faster / further on the 30 min runs

- if you need a carrot rather than a stick then write down some promised rewards - 10 runs = new top or meal out, etc

Thanks I think I am an "easily bored", rules person I have a quite track into the forest to run on so should be able to get at least another month before its too dark before breakfast. Been trying to run mon weds friday but the monday is a struggle so its been tuesday/thursday/saturday

Think I need the Monday morning shock to set the week up
