hi folks , long time no chat . Where to begin , now that's a tale .The last chat way back in October , was when i let everyone know that i had managed to get bowel cancer, well things went from bad to worse . After having op to remove tumour and about a 3rd of my bowel , i started chemo full of gusto about keeping my self going on my runs etc . well me and the chemo ? We haven't got on . I've not managed a run of any sort since , in fact its all i can do to manage a mile walk .Its knocked the stuffing out of me lol .
after a couple of months and a new round of scans , they've discovered it has managed to find its way into my liver, needless to say i ain't too impressed , i thought i done all the hard bit and now its got to go on a bit longer.
I have a appointment with the surgeon at the royal marsden in Chelsea on Wednesday to see if chemo has had any affect on the liver lesions , if it has then its another 3 months of chemo , if not its a operation again followed by more chemo . So far this has been my annis horribilus and looks like its going to carry on that way for rest of it . Trying to keep a pma about it all , but some times in the wee dark hours i do have my fearful moments but luckily few and far between . Once this is all over its back to week 1 on the app and my exertions begin again including spitting my dumy out on week 3 lol .
I'm still being bloody minded and belligerent , which as a Millwall fan isn't too hard to be .

Hello double tap. I am sorry to hear about the terrible time you have been having. I wondered how you were getting on. I hope that your next consultation is positive and that you can start running again soon.
The thing is dt, most people dont realise there are hundreds of chemo drugs. Some are tolerated by folk much better than others. Those generally used for your type of cancer are hard to tolerate, so do not compare yourself to others you read about on the forum. No surprise you have not been able to run.
You are doing great with your pma. Keep it going and keep posting, stay part of this family! We will try to be with you in those wee small hours but always try to stay positive my forum friend. Yes I know it is easier to say than do, but do your very best . Love and best wishes to you and yours xx
Hang on in there. Every cancer journey is roller coaster, but you sound as if you are facing up to it with a runner's bloody mindedness.
Life goes on and you just have to make the most of it, which you seem to be doing. I have found that despite my treatment knocking my performance for six, that continuing to run has a hugely positive psychological impact.
You are being so strong and I'm glad you're bloody minded it will hold you in good stead . Sorry to hear of all you're going through but to read your post is inspirational and puts life into perspective. All the best for your appointment and treatment and I'm sure you'll be back out there pounding the streets xxx
I wondered how you were getting on but I’m so sorry to read what you’ve gone through.
Once a runner always a runner so the road will be waiting for you when you finish your treatment. Your bloody-mindedness will stand you in good stead in the weeks to come. Take care.
