Yesterday, I ran my first proper 5k race (Run Reigate, 5k event) after having graduated only a few weeks ago.
I was very nervous I must admit but once I settled down I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Throughout the race I could hear MJ reminding me not to go too fast and find a comfortable pace
All the time I was thanking c25k and this community for giving me such a solid platform to build up on. Thanks!
Finished at around 34min mark which is about 5 minute slower than my PB but that's mostly due to my own fault for placing myself right at the back and then not being able to overtake about a 100 people fast enough.
So yeah, if you've graduated, do take part in a race if there is one close to you .. the experience is worth it and believe me, c25k has trained you well already.
Those who are still doing c25k, stick to it! Believe me it works!
PS I've already signed up for two half marathons next year (May and Sept), I'm not a natural runner and my body is not built for endurance but I know I can do it! Wish me luck!
