Hi all.

I’m about to embark on Couch to 5k.

I have not done any fitness for the past 7-8years but as I’m early 50’s and getting more and more sedentary it is time to make a change.

Any helpful advice for these early days is appreciated.

Thank you

Welcome. Read everything in the guide, an admin will post the link. Don’t try and run fast, just relax and go steady. You can do this.

Well done for undertaking the challenge and welcome to this community, it is great for a advice, support and encouragement. Yep, slow and steady is the way, you MUST take your rest days. Avoid fatigue which leads to injury and is the main reason people give up. Enjoy the running!!

At the risk of sounding like a Nike advert:-

Just do it.

I’m happy to confirm C25K really works. Stick with it and the lovely Laura.

Plus the lovely people on this forum are here to support you every step of the way.

Good luck

Welcome! And well done for starting :) and if you’ve read the guide you’re good to go!

I’d add:

*Make sure you hydrate well the day before you plan to run - I find that makes such a difference.

* Don’t be tempted to push further than the guided run even if it feels doable around wk 3 - injury awaits and the guided runs will tough enough again by wk 4!

*Don’t get downhearted if you have to miss a planned run for any reason - you won’t lose what you’ve gained. And even if you do it’ll be back in no time. It seems that very few actually complete the C25K in 9 weeks. I’m due to finish next week and think it will be about 14 weeks in total - I’m still dead chuffed!

*Spend some time on here each week - it’s wonderful motivation to follow others’ journeys, and everyone is really nice and helpful if you have any questions.

Above all, enjoy it! It’s fantastically addictive :)
