I'm fed up for giving up everything I try when it comes to weight loss and getting fit. Nothing seemed manageable or fun until now. Got back from the first run and feel great and motivated to do this!!! Motivation tips please.

Stick with this forum as the support is fantastic. Read and post regularly. Set your 3 running days each week and stick to them! And slow down and slow down again especially as the runs get longer 👌🏽

I think you’ve found motivation right there. If this is the one that made you feel great then it’s the one for you!

Reading your post I’d warn against expectations of fast weight loss in C25K. You will get fitter, you will burn fat, but you will put on muscle. Muscle is heavier than fat, so you may see changes in how clothes fit, and how you look, then stand on the scales and see slight weight gain... and that can be dispiriting... my advice is to get a tape measure and measure each bit of you. Keep measuring and you will see progress when the scales upset you. Go with the tape, it’s showing the real story.

Oh and great job on run one. Fun was certainly not a word I accused run one of being... lots of the phrases I threw at it did start with F though!

Stick at it. As said pick your 3 days and the Forum is great for motivation. Reading about others on the same journey as you helps greatly. And slow and steady does it. The plan works, enjoy. Oh yeah, welcome.

I feel exactly the same. My first run today and I actually feel ok. The fear of trying this beforehand way outweighs the actual run. Good work. 😊

Well done, run 1 over , you’ve started. If it helps at all I found that concentrating o a week at a time stopped the whole programme seeming daunting. Small achievable goals were a must for me, if I were to look at the top of a mpountain I’d never leave the foothills!

Not every run will be fun but every after run will be exhilarating much more so than the feeling you get by giving up .

Good luck on your journey and as others have said , this forum is a wonderful motivation in itself . In the early days I felt I had no right to read or post unless I had done my run.... sad but true 🙂

Keep your eyes out for people who are on the same run as you and follow them. That way you can encourage each other by reading their posts and see how they are getting on.

That’s brilliant well done, it definitely sounds like you’re pretty motivated already. The thing to remember is that at some point we’ve all lacked motivation, it’s really hard starting something new especially if (like me) you’ve spent many years making excuses to yourself to justify doing zero exercise and eating rubbish. It’s so much easier to revert back to the Couch and forget all about the 5k bit.

I’ve lost count of the amount of things I’ve started and never finished and I’m sure MrT and the rest of my family rolled their eyes when I told them I was doing this, they were probs all thinking it was another flash in the pan fad that I wouldn’t stick to... but here I am on Week 9!

You can do it, prove yourself wrong and show everyone how awesome you are! If you’re feeling a bit low or lacking motivation a good rant on this forum is great for helping you see things more clearly.

The weight loss will come in time, but it does take a while. Healthy eating & good exercise will transform your life if you just stick at it and don’t give up. It can be soul destroying at times when you’ve worked super hard and don’t see it reflected on the scales but UnfitNoMore has some sound advice, try not to worry too much about the numbers, in time you’ll start to feel it in your clothes and see if in the mirror and that’s so much better than a number of a scale.

Advane89 it’s difficult to get motivated unless you enjoy what you are doing! Take it steady and slowly and it will come! Plenty of support here

Hi advane, well done, getting out in the first place is a massive first step! Sounds like you'll supply your own motivation from now on, you will need patience as others have said, but you'll feel so much better as your body gets fitter. Don't try to push too hard or too fast, this is all about slowly building up the length of time you can run for, your body goes through a massive adjustment in a fairly short time. Welcome, you'll love it here!
