Hello, I’m on week 6 now. Has anyone managed to lose a significant amount of weight with this?

Well done on your progress.

C25K is not a weight loss programme and the individual workouts do not burn a significant amount of calories, so, as stated in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you are unlikely to lose much weight by the plan alone.

You will be fitter and your body will become more efficient and if you run for longer after the programme then weight loss is virtually guaranteed, as long as you stay in calorie deficit.

Over the years I have been here there have been many examples of individuals who have lost huge amounts of weight, but only alongside careful calorie intake.

This might be helpful to you healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Hi Bluedawn. I didn’t start the programme for weight loss, more just to get toned (woman of a certain age!), and I can tell you that it definitely worked. It’s hard to see a difference week on week, but gradually things start to firm up, which in turn makes clothes feel looser. That and a general feeling of wellbeing. 😀

I also do yoga and walk my dog, and other people do Pilates, weight train etc on non running days.

Good luck! 😀

I lost about 8lbs over the first few weeks without trying which was a bonus , I have been swimming as well. I'm on week 8 now and the weight loss has reached a plateau. I guess if I wanted to lose more I would need to reduce my calorie intake.

No more extra running ...not sure my body could take it. I'm thinking of doing some weights at home though

I’ve been following a low fat, calorie controlled diet since around Christmas and lost 4 stone before starting this programme. For me, losing weight is mostly about diet but exercise helps to build fitness and tone up (as others have already said). I am hoping that being able to run regularly will help me to maintain the calorie deficit I need to lose weight, and also help keep me in the right frame of mind. All the best with your weight loss target!

Running longer regularly, and being more mobile in general, whilst eating a healthy diet will see you lose weight. Try walking more. While you are moving you are burning calories 💪👍😃🏃‍♀️

Weights at home is fine. Bicep curls and all that. Jillian Michaels dvd’s are awesome - good mix of of moves from all disciplines 🙂
